Before the start of semester 2, we're doing a couple of introductory sessions on Arduino micro controllers. Luckily, I've had some previous experience using Arduino, therefore I've decided to help fellow student Max Johnson realise his idea of a call & response robot. I've got some more ideas to come too.

I haven't had much time to put into this over the past week (I've probably spent an hour on it) it's just the barebones of the idea for now.

  • the timing sounds spot on. Do you think it could handle separate bass and snare noises, or even a high-hat/hissing kind of sound? Cool name by the way "physical echo".

  • @mooxim I could try and filter out the frequencies for different sounds and then make them control different motors, it would probably need to be adjusted for different users though.

I quite like the idea that we might be able to hook up multiple bots that feed off each other, maybe allowing for a kind of ripple/wave effect if we lined a few up. We'll see what we can come up with next week.

  • This is a really interesting prototype. It'll be interesting to see where the next step of this project may lead.

  • Wow. Really impressive work! Are you driving it with Firmata in Max?

  • @jrmedd that sounds like an awesome idea.
