Ipad Players test Between VLC, Oplayer HD , CineXplayer , YxPlayer

I tested them with two Files . 1. a 720p mkv file 2. a Standard Definition video. In 720 all players performed poorly with oplayer being slightly better. In standard Definition all players were adequate , with Vlc being a little Sluggish when playing with the search bar but the only one to display .Sub Subtitles . For my taste cinexplayer had very live and warm collors and in my opinion it was the best.

Try ECPlayer you will be shock how easy it plays 720p mkv at full frames per second but app is new lack some features.

@haloavenger while i consider it a travesty and apple a bunch of dillweeds, I wouldn't call it 'terrible hindsight'. Apple knows exactly what its doing: protecting it's distribution channel ala itunes i.e. the money maker.

@dingumfCallofDuty what are you talking about? the ipad 1 has already been proven to play 'HIGH' profile x.264 720p mkvs flawlessly, w/ no stutter or lag, via xbmc. search x264 plant earth ipad. it's a no brainer the ipad 2 will be able to as well, once its jailbroken at least.

@dingumfCallofDuty nop, its the terrible hindsight apple (and most other tablet manufacturers) had in producing the tablets for the current market today. none of them really cared about h264 mkv video and decided to cut costs (since most of the immediate market don't really care of these containers).

little portable media players sold in china via (off brand) can play 1080p h264 high profile no problem and stream it via hdmi, and are sold for $60 USD.

By Standard Definition I take it you're referring to 480p?

Have you also tested 720p MKV ripped in Baseline or Main profile?

Ive been a user of ipad to play animu and fap material I forgot the application Im using. it almost plays all the file even mkv I used to watch all my animu directly from my ipad once Im done downloading it but mostly on 720p... fcuk I forgot the name already. it also work on dual audio and subs work on mkv.

if you have jailbroken ipad you shoud try XBMC on it. It plays 720p mkv files without lags, but you'll have to put them on your device with file browser. Itunes cant see the XBMC
