This footage was recorded on September 21, 2010 in Forest Hills and Flushing, NY. The damage was so severe and pervasive that FEMA plans to provide funding to repair areas in Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. I was on the subway (R Train) on the way home from work when the tornadoes hit Forest Hills and Flushing.

  • damn it was a big tragedy, i don't think we ever had a tornado in my country (El Salvador) not that i remember but we had a big tragedy with a huge earthquake back in 2001, nothing happen to my place thank god, i'm not religious but i'm really thankful with god, maybe 4 miles away from my home, they didn't have the same luck a lot of people died cuz a lot of houses fell it was terrorific, well hope nothing like this happens again anytime soon....head up NYC, hope you and ur people r all ok brett

  • MrKurow13 - You are fortunate that your home and family were not hurt in the earthquake. These events are terrible and I too feel lucky to be alive. Thank you for the kind words. We are recovering in NYC, and will be better soon.

  • @BrettH123 you're welcome man, really hope everything goes back to normal and everyone can forget about this tragedy, and yeah i do feel lucky too cuz nothing happened to me and my people, after that earthquake there's been a few more in El Salvador, now that i'm here in the U.S. but i'm always in comunication with my family and they're ok so i'm really thankful for that....

  • MrKurow13 - Thanks again. It is certainly a time to be thankful for what we have.

  • in all fairness the damage wasnt that bad it was mostly uprooted trees and downed power lines other then that id be glad my home was okay lol

  • powerbar118 - The damage could have been worse. At the same time, the damage was very bad. There is worse destruction than the 5 minutes of footage I have shown here. Some roofs were completely ripped off houses, three tractor trailers were overturned, trees fell on houses causing significant damage, 25,000 people in Queens lost power. There was even more drastic damage to homes, I just did not get that on video.

  • Damn that must really suck, never knew tornadoes can hit the NYC

  • Wow... And I thought dealing with hurricanes in the South were bad. This pretty much beats that. Stuff like actually shakes me up a little me because there could've been someone out there who saw severely hurt from this... or even worse.
