Massachusetts volunteers deliver Sen. Brown the Oily Bird Award

1Sky volunteers Geneva and Alexandra traveled to Washington, DC to deliver their senator, Scott Brown, the Oily Bird Award for his vote for the Dirty Air Act resolution the previous week. This resolution would have given Big Oil and Dirty Coal a handout while crippling the Clean Air Act's ability to protect our healthy air and climate.

Geneva (also a regional coordinator for 1Sky) and Alexandra were joined by intern and MA resident Amy and our policy fellow, Gabe Elsner.

that bird is an environmental hazard. oil is a hazardous substance. that wet slimy flamingo should have been brought to a haz mat refuse station, where it could have been disposed of safely.

@dirtywater62 I can assure you that the "oily bird" delivered to Senator Brown and other senators was simply a stuffed toy bird with brown, nontoxic paint on it. We would certainly not use an actual dead animal or any toxic substances in our actions like this.

Compelling idea to legislate ourselves into acting right. Sad to think so many will continue unless forced unwillingly to change. Government failure is a major cause of crisis. Relying on same seems a bit paradoxal.  Watch how the Green energy movement is handed to energy companies to be centralized and sold to the people as is coal oil and nuclear. As a source of energy-- oil is still cheap. The bottom line is a tough thing to argue against even while they choke on their own pollution.
