Born in 1673, Johann Christoph Riedel was the first Riedel to trade luxury glass. A glass culture flourished in the northern part of Bohemia, which at that time was situated between today's Czech Republic and Poland. His son, Johann Carl Riedel, was a gilder and glass cutter operating out of his own workshop. The first Riedel glass factory opened it's doors in 1760. Eleven generations later, this company has continues to surpass all others in quality, craftsmanship, and of course, tradition. Several generations later, the corporate board today includes Georg J. Riedel and his son, Maximillian Riedel.
