This setup was very cool, with the weight releasers - this was ~220kg on the way down, then about 150kg on the way up, plus the isokinetic tension.
I would discuss more about how this actually works, but the technology and machines are under patent - so if I told you I'd have to kill you.

what is this stupid shit? Just squat the 220 like a real champion, and if you can't do 220 properly then don't fool yourself by loading the bar with this bullshit contraption.

Not isokinetic. Variable loading with more load in the eccentric phase than in the concentric phase of hip and knee flexion/extension. The US Ski Team has a mechanical device that lifts the supplementary load back to the original height where it can be used for another rep through the eccentric phase.

Cool idea, not sure if I like it though because of the difficulty in maintaining stability as you drop the weights of in the bottom. Since the idea is to allow for a heavier weigth in the negative phase, I'd probably do this with both belt and knee straps, safetywise... Nice vid!
