Update 2.

had the idea of adding an exhaust valve to get rid of the compression stroke, well i did and now i have double if tripple the efficiency and power! i have a 7 gallon air compressor that can drive the engine at 172 rpm at 4-5 psi for over 28min!!! I thinking about a compressed air car???? or steam car????

  • I am a little confused as to how you got the exhaust valve hooked up. Does the exhaust not just go out the usual exhaust port? Or are you using this valve to lower the compression the piston faces when coming back up after it is past the exhaust port? If it is in fact coming back out the inlet (spark plug hole), then how are you stopping the pressure from escaping out during the downstroke when the pressure is being applied to the piston? I built a single action..but I'm confused on this one

  • @jtalton626 look at the right side of the engine i closed off the exhaust port with a pice of wood to make the exhast valve work normaly

  • Great idea. Never would have thought to use those things as mechanical valves. Best give my solenoid idea a few more thoughts. Although, you seem to lose a little bit of the "power stroke" with all that extra line because the air has to fill up that much more hose. Just an insight.

  • @bubbaandy89 its just a prototype lol I might make another one sometime in the future with all 1/2" copper tubing instead of 1/4" rubber tubing and like you said alot less of it for better performance. i would also make a larger cam for just a little higher idle speed with alot more powerful high end with much higher rpms. the small cam i have on here wasnt pushing the valves down far enough there for making it run nice at low speeds but was lacking power all the time on high or low pressure.

  • where did you get the spark plug adapter?

  • @19wael96 the spark plug hole is just 1/4in so you can use any compression fitting on it that is a 1/4inch

  • Can anybody say no life!

  • nice job

  • Wtf man we are talking about steam you know the the gaming shit of valve corperation

  • you should make an air/steam car! It would be very cheap to refill, and the only exhaust would be air or water vapor!

  • helped my issue thx

  • I must congratulate you on the air gun solution, very innovative. I am about to start conversion of an 11hp briggs and stratton 4 stroke. I will use a compression fitting input into the spark plug hole scenario but am going to grind off the cam controlling the intake valve and double up the cam on exhaust valve. I was wondering though if there is any particular advantage to the second air gun you installed? Does it create a vacuum pulling on the piston during the exhaust cycle?

  • put some stiffer springs in those guns and crank the psi i wanna see how goo it winds out

  • Clever valve concept. Breaking the "compression" stroke is the key for that low RPM operation with the stock flywheel - I've got my computer controlled solenoid rig running down to <100 RPM now but the airflow issues using a single port is the issue now - good job!
