  • The Godamn Bilderberger Charlies Rose can never keep his fucken mouth shut!

  • Pretty sure there is hostility towards homosexuals in many Asian countries if not all. what I have seen from my travels and from talking to Asians, very much so in the middle east and latin America. Certainly many African countries reject it. Also the Caribbean. Not just "Western Countries" feel that way

  • @inferno0020

People who practiced sodomy will not be openly prosecuted in those so-called "non-Western societies", but they usually did not have good social status except those who were born wealthy, since marriage is usually a special status in every society

  • Many anthropologists have a wrong perspective on homosexuality in non-Western civilizations

For instance, I have read that the Jesuit priests said "the Japanese treated homosexuality as way to present loyalty to their master" after they saw the servant of samurais openly presented their behaviors.

What they didn't see is that this type of "privilege of homosexuality" only existed within samurai castes; most of the Japanese peasants regarded it a taboo and the homosexuals were usually harassed

  • Now this has made me 'giggle.' The 1960's were the times of revolutions and marxist semiotics and cultural relativism. Homosexuality will always be taboo because it can't be procreative and hence whether it's a religion or government someone will oppose it. Personally someone's sexuality doesn't bother me and I get on with people, but it's not for me to judge anyone but look to my Church leaders for guidance.

  • Homosexuality is considered taboo in India. Sociologists and anthropologists attribute this to the strong influence that Victorian ethics and social norms have left in India.

What is referred to as "Transvestites" in India in the course of this conversation, is a misnomer. Mr. Harris is referring to the Hijras ... either castrated males or she-males ... who are actually ostracized and proclaimed as the "Third" sex.

As of this writing, homosexuality remains a crime per the Indian Penal Code.
