Renfro Valley is a place thats near and dear to Billys heart. Billy grew up just outside of Kentucky in Southern Illinois and listened to the Renfro Valley Barn Dance shows broadcast out of WHAS in Louisville. Billy got to hear Whitey Ford, aka the Duke of Paducah, and Red Foley, a couple of great musicians he would eventually come to know as his own musical career flourished. The song, Renfro Valley was written by John Lair, the man who started the Renfro Valley Barn Dance back in 1937. It was covered by Red Foley and Patsy Montana, and is also on one of Billys recent recordings, the Back Home CD. Billy does a wonderful rendition here and couples this tune with a beautiful version of Peace in the Valley the first gospel song to sell over a million copies. Billy originally recorded Peace in the Valley in 1964 on his Golden Gospel Favorites album for Decca Records.
Thank you very much for your gentle voice & nice guitar work.
New world for me. Thanks again.

Oh my goodness!! Billy and Ruth Grammer- so glad that you have posted these videos and that I found them! I can't remember much of my childhood without you all in it. This is Michelle-Bailey's granddaughter in Winchester, KY. I remember all the times you all came to the house and I LOVED more than anything the stories you told along with such great pickin and singin! You all were such a blessing to our family and more importantly to Pappaw- I miss him dearly!! Keep the videos coming!
