I choose the 5D to teach them on purpose because being able to go out and shoot stills allowed students to learn framing and composition quickly without getting a lot of footage to edit. The lack of auto controls forced them to learn the camera quicker and made the transition to video easier from stills. I stick with Canon because it still has the best video bang for your buck in terms of low light, image quality & feel. I would love to see something comparable from other companies.
