I'm 68 years old, and I was a diehard Philadelphia Warriors fan. But, Bill Russell was the best defensive player of all time, and no one else was even close. What Bob Pettit, one of the best NBA players of all time said in this film was true. They had to think about Bill Russell any time they drove to the basket, he usually always led in rebounds and assists also. Even though, not the most prolific scorer, I say he was equal to Chamberlain, if not slightly better.

Unselfish, Teamwork, Teamplayer, Killer Instinct, Intellect and Mind! He would make you feel comfortable and then lock you down! He avg 5 apg in the playoffs ! As a Center that's Great and the record! And 25 rpg! He won 11 NBA Championships and 5 MVP's !!! The Greatest Defender of All time, he Revolutionized it! Wilt Chamberlain shot well under his average FG% against Russell and he averaged 6!! Less PPG!!! When he played Russell!! Intelligent! NO.6 !!!! DEFENSE, BODY AND MIND, TEAM, WINNING!

What I hope others know is that a lot of what makes a center great either came from him or could be seen in his game. Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and even Wilt Chamberlain are all credited as masters of blocking shots, and they were but from what I've seen Bill was the first to block shots and recapture the shot so that his team could use it.

I wouldn't say he didn't have the heart of a champion. Also, I wouldn't say Wilt played for his stats; didn't he lead the league in assists simply because of bad press stating the opposite?

Wilt always showed up to play and truly was the most dominant center of his time, IF only offensively.

Finish the comment: "I could slow him down, though".

Also in the video was footage of Bill getting the rebound, over Wilt and I believe, scoring on him. Let's not act like Bill was no match for Wilt; there were games he shut him down, too, and was able to get the upper hand.

Yes, because he'd be all over him like white on rice. Dirk might get one shot off on him, but like the video said you never fooled Russell twice.

It was the 1960's and The Dipper was nailing every white girl in creation because they were all over him and the media knew. They took out their frustrations in the only way they could; By denying Wilt what should have been rightfully his, the MVP the year he averaged 50

He's not the best post player of all time and Oscar Robertson is not a top 10 player of all time. Let alone 4? That's huge ignorance on your part.
