Yes, it's true, I have a Samsung HDTV. It's not Full HD 1080p or anything, but at least it's enough for 720p when I get a PS3 or an XBOX360 later ;-)

Anyways, this is me playing Eliminator mode on the PS2 version of Burnout Revenge. Using component cables, the game runs at a stunning (if not small) 480p resolution (a.k.a - 640x480 pixels @ 60Hz). Though the resolution's in 4:3 aspect ratio, you can set your PS2 system config to display it in 16:9 aspect instead. It's really satisfying, though it's more satisfying when it runs at 720p or 1080i, but since it can't, so, meh...
The HDTV's DNIe™ effect is visible in some parts of the video, especially when I'm going through the tunnels.

As for my speaker setup, I have a 5.1 Surround setup + an increased volume of my TV speakers for an extra kick. You can enable surround sound by switching the sound mode to Dolby ProLogic II in the sound settings menu, just make sure your PS2's audio cables are made for surround setup.

And yes, I'm pretty skilled myself in this game XD

P.S.

  • @DonDiego500000 the game looks reasonably good in HD, but you need to run some program on the PS2 to force the high resolution, like GSM.

But unfortunately it doesn't seem to like 16:9... not even if you set it in the console dashboard.

You need to set the TV to 4:3 otherwise it's just gonna stretch the image to fit.

  • I have an 40 inch LCD and an AVI cable on ps2 that had been configured to work with AVI in the options under the RGB image settings, and 16:9. The image sucks so bad it gets really annoying, If I could I would buy an 20 inch tube tv, it worth better than an crappy stretched image...

  • so let me ask you, do i have to set my tv to 4:3, because in 16:9 it will look VERY stretched out. the games were made for 4:3

  • Best Burnout game in my opinion.

  • i buy this gametoday man is so awsome

  • i wish people stilled played this online

  • Xploder HDTV Player for PS2
