Yellowstone Breakdown. Good title for a mournful bluegrass tune, maybe?
Last night my truck broke down again, this time on the scenic route between Madison Junction and Old Faithful, as I was heading north from a snowy-steamy tour of the Grand Prismatic Spring and other features of the Upper Geyser Basin. I had the Firehole River on one side, and rock walls on the other, and the truck started bucking and choking with a blinking light that indicates the catalytic converter might have failed? Certainly a gorgeous place for a breakdown... but still. After some radio calls from friendly park rangers, a tow truck was dispatched from West Yellowstone MT, the "west gate" of Yellowstone National Park. Now I'm waiting to see if it can be repaired here, and get me back on my "Oregon Trail."
