Severe thunderstorms rolled through the Purchase area packing 70 mph straight line winds. Southern Illinois was hit with the same winds including half-dollar sized hail.

  • ok you're probably right...it was the forecast..I'm an amateur weather spotter

  • 70 mph is almost hurricane force. It IS NOT 70 mph at all. See beaufort wind scale. Then you can better estimate wind force :)

  • I admitted I was wrong....The National Weather Service said severe thunderstorm warning with damaging straight line winds up to 70 mph....I know it wasn't hurricane force winds, I was a little over-excited trying to be an weather spotter ok?
