Heres an explanation of a speaker I made out of an old hard disk drive which uses the linear motor of the drive as the voice coil, which vibrates the cone I made out of the soft drink bottle. I spent some time fine tuning this to get some decent sound and this is what I came up with. Its actually very effective, and the poor quality video doesn't do it justice. Post up your own creations as video responses as well or share your ideas with me!

  • Haha, I am watching this listening to your video through my own hard drive speaker!

    Oh, and I used a few strands of magnet wire used for an old bell ringing phone to sound the bell to connect the voice coil. That way there is less mass for the speaker to move. I am powering it from two 386 op amps.
