Music by Andrew Baker, images of Shugborough April 23rd 2011
This is the first of a series of pieces written for "Inspired by the Past", a Cultural Olympic Project for May 2012. The title comes from Honore d'Urfe's "Astree", a French Arcadian romance which Lady Anson read while at Shugborough in the 1740s, Lady Anson refers to Le Miroir de la Vraie Reconnoissance - a mirror which shows the face of the shepherds the nymphs are to find by the river - though the phrase itself seems not to be appear in the book.
The music is written for flute or recorder and harpsichord or harp.
