OFF! Interview From Pitchfork Music Festival 2011: Dmitri Coats And Steven Shane McDonald Talk Shop

Sure they're composed of members of such seminal punk and hard rock acts as Black Flag, Burning Brides, Red Kross and Hot Snakes, but don't call OFF! a hardcore supergroup. Or do, whatever. All these touring vets really care about is that you listen to their music and enjoy yourself at their shows. We sure did during their performance at the recent Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.

We also enjoyed the opportunity to talk to guitarist Dmitri Coats and bassist Stephen Shane McDonald about the recording process for their First Four EPs album, which the band engineered and produced themselves. It was all done on Pro Tools in a pristine recording environment, but still sounds like a rediscovered relic from hardcore's early-80s heyday.
