My absolute favorite song.. This Version by Shinedown is far more soulful than Skynards... As good as the original was this reaches deeper!

I was really enjoying the scenery / visuals... then they all of a sudden disappear. coincidentally, this video was posted the day my daughter ChrissyJane was born (her father slays a crowd when he sings this song).

Dont get me wrong I love skynyrd and the original is probably one of the top 3 most well-known/loved songs in the world but I think Brent Smith performs it with way more emotion, and it just feels like he makes the song his own in a way

This is really good and the emotion really comes through but its a bit over the top to get the true essence of the song. If you want to see the perfect delivery see Ronnie's brother Johnny's version with the original band (Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man 1987 youtubevideo). Simple and effortless by the entire band which is what the song tries to teach every generation. Over the top can be good now and then but being a Simple Man everyday thats what Ronnie wanted for all of us...Cheers

Skynard was the original and it is amazing however I think there's a point were after years and years of listening to his version it's time for the classic to be reborn and shinedowns cover hits me harder possibly.
My uncle who is 37 swears by skynards version however at 20yrs old I thing shindown just speaks to my generation better.
