In April 2008, CAIR Greater Los Angeles Area led a group of over 100 Southern California Muslims on an educational trip to Manzanar, the first Japanese internment camp established during World War II. Along with Southland Muslims, some 1500 people from California and beyond attended the 39th Annual Pilgrimage to Manzanar.
Hate tell you this, but with the passage of NDAA 2012 and the indefinite Detention Clause added in, this time it won't be just Japanese and Japanese Americans. Say hello to your future prisons: Gitmo and Correction Corporation of America.

I once visited it some years ago. Manzanar is a dark and forbidding place. The dark sky and coldness is enough to tell me that. It is a testament to the very disgraceful act in our history.
As for the people who suffered from such treatment, I believe that everyone is as human as we are. So it's time for all of mankind to stand up for what's right, and against all fear and prejudice. It's a important thing to remember what happened, and not let that happen again.

Manzanar will forever be one of the most shameful episodes in American history.
And the fact that the remnants of Manzanar are not better preserved is a disgrace.
It's as if people don't want to be reminded what took place there.
