IBM Software Chief Steve Mills mocks HP's acquisition of Autonomy

We've been competing against Autonomy. It doesn't really matter whether Autonomy is an independent company or becomes a part of HP. We compete with them before, we'll compete with them again. The broader question is how is HP going to realize any kind of leverage from Autonomy. And that's a question only they can answer. They [HP] certainly spent a lot of money to acquire it [Autonomy]. And it's going to be tough to get a return. We're [IBM] a little more thoughtful about how we use the sharholders' money.
