After this fight: Doo Koo Kim's mother committed suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills two weeks after the fight, and Richard Green was found dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head several months later.

@drift18Japan I hope someone shoots you for this comment.

Kim's last fight before the Mancini bout was in July 1982 against Tadao Ishido. So July to November is sufficient time inbetween fights in my opinion

@drift18Japan (...cont.) Kim I doubt would have faulted Mancini either. Kim fought a match 2 weeks prior to this fight. That is dangerous. A bruise, not fully healed, could turn into a tear or a clot or something if you fight too soon. It was just an unfortunate accident in boxing that not only fucked up everyone involved in someway (even the ref) but no one saw this coming. So, don't send hate or don't fault Mancini. I'm sure he will always feel much worse about this fight than you ever will!

@drift18Japan Mancini and Kim were doing what boxers do. Mancini, a 21 year old kid at the time, would have never imagined a death would result after a match. Because of this fight, it fucked him up psychologically, emotionally, and as a boxer. He never fought as aggressive after this and didn't fight as much. He was afraid to. If he could turn back time, he would have thrown in the towel like he was thinking about doing during this fight. (cont...)

@rawcer It's more common than you think but usually the guy survives.

He should've du(c)ked.
i saw this fight live. it was one of the best toe to toe fights of all time but it was never replayed obviously. They traded the whole fight and neither fighter backed down. It turns out that Kim had fought only a couple of weeks before and should not have been fighting that soon. There is a reason that fighters are required to wait a certain amount of time between fights.

As tragic and sad as the result of this fight was, the fight itself was a great fight and recommend all boxing fans watch it. And I bet Kim, if he could observe this, would agree and wouldn't fault Mancini or Green for his death. Kim was a real boxer, dying doing what he loved and even though he lost, he fought his ass off! Much respect for the man.
