  • is this from a 8" hard disk?

  • Nope, 9" ;)

It's from a NEC harddisk drive similar to the huge one in my other video... It was defective and I want to rebuild it (the motor is running, at least, as you can see ;) )... All magnetic platters, the Heads etc are stored dust-free... =D

As for your other request: Yes, if I find the time the next days, I can remove the external case and run it for another video... At least now you know how this drive looks inside the platter enclosure... ;)

  • wow where did you get those hard drives from?

  • I heard about a company scrapping an old PR1ME-Mainframe... I asked and was allowed to take every part I want with me, so I got most of the circuit-boards, the powersupplies and the harddisks including cables... I even got the old system-disks for installation :-P

  • Is it an ESC for BLDC motor?

  • Yep.... It's a homebrew ESC ;)

  • cool that not all parts got trashed :-) i really like old technology

  • ok..ok... :P with ATMEGA32 MCu... i didn't notice it before... :P

  • NICE bro!

and motor was from ... a dead machine like old cdrom etc..?

well, with a BLDC drvier IC or MCu...?

  • I built it on a prototyping-breadboard and didn't create any schematics back then...

But a bit more Information about it: The ATMEL ATmega32 estimates the rotor's position by decoding the signals of 5 hallsensors which monitor the magnets. (Active, the sensors produce a 5V logic high-signal)

The Microprocessors then drives 3 Half-Bridges

    (6x IRF3710 MOSFETs) through 3 IR2110 Dual-Highside-Gate-Drivers.

If you have any problems designing your own circuit, feel free to post here :D
