Joan appeared on "The David Frost Show" on January 8, 1970.

She talks about the difference in Hollywood in the 1930's and 1970, boasts about firing her hairdresser before the taping of the show, her affair with Clark Gable, working with Cliff Robertson on "Female On The Beach", psychology, cleaning, traveling, Pepsi, her favorite foods, her definition of 'a star', and her new project on "The Virginian". The interview ends with her reading the poem "Desiderata".

  • From what you hear and read about this blessed creature, you would think she was a cruel, humorless, rude, fake person. But I believe it's all a creation of what people assume(d) in their own imaginations. Listen to the woman herself, hear her own words coming from her very mouth and realize she was a REAL and a wonderful gift to us all. You do not get this anymore. She was and still is a beautiful person no matter what slander you may read/hear. Yay Joan lol =)

  • Interesting woman.

  • This woman is riddled with self awarness and cliques

  • EVERYBODY smoked then, realy, no big deal

  • @MissGarland18 Joan was a great actress and talented artist, but she was also a raging alcoholic, that is fact. Here, she seems sober so she's graceful and polite. But in the video of Joan at the Jerry Lewis Telethon where she is clearly bombed, you can tell by the way she drags Christina off stage she was a tough mother. I don't think Christina Crawford had any reason to make up the things she wrote about her mother. I believe all of them. She was a narcissist. A talented actress, but a mess.

  • @ttiiyy Yes, an actress who was apparently a movie"extra" or background performer. Extras don't generally become famous or well known, but have an actors equity card (a union member). There couldn't be 2 actors in the union with the same name as Joan Arden.

  • 9:31 ...

  • There's a part that I did not get clearly at around 4:30. She said that there's another Joan Arden. So that's also an actress?

  • I love joan crawford!! I'm 23 years old, but I watch her films and I love her!! Sorry for my orrible english!!! :D

  • this was clearly back in the days when you couldn't say "hell" on TV. Now that'd be tame!

  • @MissGarland18 THANK YOU SO MUCH MISS GARLAND VERY BEAUTIFUL WHAT YOU WROTE. SO MANY PEOPLE WRITE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT HER. AND LIKE WHEN I TELL PEOPLE "IF YOU DON'T LIKE HER. WHY ARE WATCHING HER VIDEOS" AGAIN THANK YOU FOR YOU SWEET COMMENT ABOUT LEGENDARY JOAN CRAWFORD

  • @RoundMidnightTV

... sexy back then, maybe yes. But not today.

Lighting up back then was no big deal, smoking was an acceptable habit by most of the public.
