Differences between male and female pillbugs (aka rolly-polly; Armadillidium vulgare, family Armadillidiidae) . Late-April 2009 in Japan.
For more anatomical info, visit http://webs.lander.edu/rsfox/invertebrates/armadillidium.html
Soundtrack (audioswapped) : "O-Zone" by Pastaboys.

  • liked to collect them back in school in flower pots with girls screeming because of this

japane's fauna seems to be pretty same as our

  • this species (Armadillidium vulgare) is not a japanese native species but an invasive (naturalized) species.

they r european origin and r now distributed all over the world.

    thx 4 watching!

  • I love turning over a rock in my patio and watching these little beauties roll up in a ball. Great springtime fun.

  • I BOIN DEM! BOIN DEM IN DE FIYA!!! dey pop like popcorn...

  • thats a pill millipede you can totally tell if you study them

  • "they eat vegitables, this is cabbage" no...this...is...SPARTAAAAAA!!!!!!!

  • Thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!! All i need to know is how they mate cause my pills seem to be making some sorts of strange moves which each other but i want to know if it is they are mating or not because my aquarium is not big enough to keep all the babies, i might have to sperate som male and female.

  • nice bugs actually ive started a bug club and learning bout them from more information

  • well, i didn't conclude similarity of our fauna just basing on this vid, i said it based on wantching others vids to.

yet perhaps insects widened their natural habitat area due to humans so it shouldn't be that surprising
