In this tutorial, you will learn how to make a dynamic menu that will change when the first of 2 menus is change.

Example:
You have a field called "Car make" and another field called "Car model". When you choose "BMW", the Car model list will filter to only show the BMW models and not just every single car model.

Useful, ain't it?

  • Helpful Video, a bit fast to catch up with you...

    Thanks for the efforts

  • Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial. It's 3 am and I was banging my head against the wall trying to remember how to do this. Okay, now I need to go take some Dramamine, your video made me a bit dizzy.

  • Great but... I did exactly the same and my drop down list shows the right text but once clicked it displays the numbers (ID). And before you ask, yes I have also, clicked on show 2nd field !

  • If I want to add 'Price field' that show car's price and depend on make and model

How to make and relationship with this tutorial table?

  • Very well done. WOW wow wow !

I see it as 1 person got jealous that you explained a complicated concept in Filemaker. Are there still people like these in the world, who dont like others learning ?

Thanks again for this great tutorial.

  • Thank you so much for all your videos. If some of them are fast it only means that we are slow and need to see them several times or pause them every couple of minutes. I am 73 years old and I did a small system based almost only on your videos.

  • Excellent job! Clear and simple example of Dynamic Value Lists. I needed this for my Mouse Database.

  • Bravo on a logically clear solution for Dynamic Value Lists…… However I’m trying to push this concept a little further with no success. I need to use the dynamic value list to provide data for a maximum of five paired separate entries in the same layout. Any ideas or suggestions will be sincerely appreciated. I can provide additional data structure information if needed.

    Thank you.
