All due respect, you shoulda called Overhead Door of Everett or Pioneer Door in Lynnwood and had them install a LiftMaster screw drive. That Genie is gonna get loud in about a year or so when the lube on the screw wears down.
Also, a garage door company would have strutted the top section, and made any necessary adjustments to make this a proper install.
I don't trust Sears to install anything in my home.

The really disgusting thing is installers know perforated angle is worthless as a truss, and a 2" truss is very cheap .

Is your garage ceiling at 8 feet? Can an good install be done with a ceiling at 8 feet? Or should the ceiling be 8'6" or more?
I'm wanting to build a garage and am looking for ceiling height info. thanks

So I am just checking out videos, because I install openers and doors. Your right, pretty shabby install. A strut should have been installed on the top of your door, not a piece of punched angle. The garage door rails should have been dropped in the back so the door didn't touch the opener or the opener should be installed higher if possible. The screw in the door was to keep the locks from engaging, yes it could have been done better. Electrical tape for something electric? Not a big deal.

A Sears technician came out and he said they were installed incorrectly and not to park our cars in the garage until it was fixed. After about a dozen phone calls, Sears finally claims that they are not responsible for the installer's workmanship and that i would have to deal with him. I had to pay $500 for 2 new garage top panels that were damaged. Still 4 months and no re-imbursement. I dont recommend Sears in Wayne, NJ for garage door installations. Other stores might be better

I bought a Craftsman Garage Door opener from Sears as well and paid them for the install. The installer showed up in an old minivan and he made me go to HD to buy extension brackets ($75) and I had to give Sears my credit card for another $80 on the phone because he said my garage ceilings were too high. Ok thats fine. 3 hrs later, he says he is finished. He ran carraige bolts through the doors so you can see them outside. Then when the doors go up, they bent in the middle similar to yours

Learn from? The video is to show shoddy workmanship by a contractor hired by Sears to do the opener installation.

So here we are a week later... Any chance of a fix?
8 feet, yes. I had no problems installing it right when I did it on my own.
