Fair Isle is a traditional knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours. In this video from http://www.knittinghelp.com , Amy Finlay shows you how to do this wonderful colorwork

  • Knittinghelp usually has some really great instructional vids, but I am not keen on this one. Not trying to be cruel or mean, but the demonstrator flits about too much, and the constant "ums" get in the way of her explanations. Also, while there is a lot of info on holding the colors, little or no time was spent on tension, chart reading, or what to do if there are several rows with no color. Very poor instructional vid, imo.

  • @tearxofthephoenix Thanks for proving my point. I don't have too much time on my hands at all, I am just tired of immature jerks spreading negative garbage around You Tube.

  • Thank you for the video! it shows how to do Failr Isle on the wrong side, as opposed to knitting in a circle. I had to learn it using common sense.

  • thank you:)

  • How do you keep the two different yarn strans from tangeling?

  • Brilliant video, very easy to follow! Can anyone point me in the direction of a video that instructs you how to knit woven fair isle?

  • when you cast on, do you only cast on one colour, then add the other yarn latter??

    Great video by the way.

Also, when you turn the knitting around do you put the same colour yarn in the same places?

  • when you cast on, do you only cast on one colour, then add the other yarn latter??

    Great video by the way

  • are you knitting the stockinnette fashion?

  • This video was helpful and informative for me in more ways than one. I am still a beginner, so I don't feel I am ready to try this out yet, but it was interesting to find out that I apparently learned how to knit English style. So I will do a little more research on the two different styles and get more practice in before I try this. Thanks so much!
