1977 Defiance Ohio Jr. High School student film. Originally silent, but now with added soundtrack. This is 2 of 23 short films our 8th Grade English class made.

  • Most of the 8mm film cameras didn't have automatic exposure or focus or even sound. Plus you had to wait to have the film developed to see what it looked like.

I don't know which one of my classmates filmed this, but they did a great job. This is the best of all the 23 films we made.

I had the films transferred to digital videotape and I added the soundtrack using a digital video (DV) editing VCR.

I put these on a dvd and sold some at my 25th Class reunion.

  • I knew a guy who back almost 10 years ago now had a Gilligan style hat.

  • What a great keepsake for a reunion. What did this English class teach to the students? Sounds like a pretty fun subject to take at your school.

  • I enjoyed watching some of your films from 1977. I was 14 too then and had been making my own 8mm silent films since 4th grade. My 13 year-old son just put his first student film on YouTube (Code of Silence) and I told him how different it is now with video cameras, computers, music and editing software. Today's young film makers can literally shoot, edit and distribute their own films!

Thanks again for putting some of your old films on YouTube.
