Good memory and resposiblity knowing state regulations and limits MRHUNTERJ. Stugeon/Paddlefish are a very limited resource that is on us individuals to keep in balance. Yes fishery departments and wildlife set regulations( I electroshock and tag fish for Ohio ODNR). But I go out on a limb a lot and tell fishermen if they see others taking fish illegally going over the limit or keeping fish under the size limit, kick there ass!!! or call the Game warden.

I live very close to a medium sized lake. In this lake there have been several sturgeons pulled up, but one hasnt been caught in nearly 13 years nor has one washed up or anything. They are kinda a legend/folk tale here. But i would like to catch one of them to prove that they still do exist in the lake since no one else cares to do so. What ind of set up are you using, bait, hook anything that could help. Thanks and I hope your lines stay tight.

@Mattythepirate I have not fished them in the lake so it might be different than in the river. We use smelt which carries the scent down to the fish. You might find a stream feeding into the lake and fish there. We use a single barbless hook. Don't know if that helps, but good luck.
