One of the great things about Lawrence Welk was he enjoyed
music immensely. In his biography titled: "Ah One & Ah Two",
(which is worth a read), it tells a story from Welk's early days.
Lawrence had been a farm boy, then learned the accordion
to make extra money playing for local dances. His strict
parents disagreed, but Lawrence was so thrilled by it
he formed his own band.
After one gig the band threatened to walk off because
Lawrence "bounced around so much", he embarrassed
them!

What a music legend !
He was a great entertainer. This clip with Lucy Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr. Vivian Vance getting a photo of the TV Maestro. A REAL Classic.

All praise to LW. He seeked out real talent and did not allow the cult of celebrity worship like we do today. We need another LW real bad.
