FALMOUTH - An 18-month-old boy has been ugraded to fair condition from critical condition at Childrens Hospital in Boston this afternoon after falling through a screened-window 14 feet to a paved driveway, a hospital spokesman said.
The toddler was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived just before 9 a.m. to his familys Jamie Lane address in East Falmouth.
He was crying in the ambulance, so thats a good sign, Falmouth Fire Capt. Gregory Clements said.
The boy was airlifted to Childrens Hospital by a Med-Flight helicopter.
The toddler apparently suffered internal injuries, Clements said. There were no visible signs of trauma, he said.
Police detectives and the state Department of Social Services have been called in to investigate, which is typical when a child falls out of a window. Both parents were at home at the time of the accident.
It appears to be an accident, Falmouth Police Sgt. Scott Hartzler said. Its a routine investigation.
The boys name is not being released by either the police or fire departments.
