It's actually pretty cool--I stumbled upon it when I was looking at the Half-Life wikia page.
If you search for "Portal ARG" on that wikia, it'll bring up the page that explains it all.
The developers had a blast with all their memes and whatnot, it seems :P

@DUFreeperbuddy You'll need to straight loop it to and fro. Rerecording isn't really the optimal.

Can somebody help me? I have my mic on stereo mix, and im playing these sound files but my sstv image still come out green/pink. are there any options i need to change to get an image?

Dont know whether this has been commented before, or whether people already know this but the sounds that are not morce code are SSTV (Slow Scan TV) Using a program such as mmsstv you can decode these noices to reveal images. Very cool technology (also very old)
