CheaperThanDirt.com and Tom Russell want to bring you a video series spanning across such things as self defense and firearm safety. Here is the first installment of that series tell us what you think!!

Tom Russell is a Master Firearms instructor as given the title by Colonel Jeff Cooper.

A word from Tom Russell

"I was privileged to train under and then instruct with Colonel Jeff Cooper and received my Master Firearms Instructor rating from him in 2000. I have faced potential and actual deadly force situations on the street and in the game field and dealt with those problems quickly and efficiently. The goal is to end the fight before your assailant realizes he has jumped on a wolf and not a mouse.

I am a Christian and gospel preacher and do not apologize for it, and yes I am armed even in the pulpit. My wife and I have been very happily married for eighteen years and have three children.

I look forward to training with you."

Tom Russell, Master Instructor

  • @desirefirst "Rule number one, all guns are always loaded. Don't assume that it is so make certain that it is." It would be responsible for you to ensure your firearm is ready before putting it away. Assuming that it is loaded is just as dangerous as assuming that it is not loaded.

  • @desirefirst- you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed are you there sweetheart? The instructor's advice is simply that there is always danger present when handling a firearm of any kind. Therefore, you don't take it for granted that the weapon is unloaded to prevent blowing your face off or killing someone else. If it is your desire to have it loaded on your nightstand then it is up to you to ensure you have reloaded it after using it.

  • Rule #5: Don't sell guns to Connecticut.

  • @01THESARGE And most Safety Rules (not just for guns) were written in blood.

  • @MaskedReaper13 You are an idiot. Gun safety is one of the most important things you can ever learn in the world of firearms. If you do not (or will not) follow these rules, you should never own or handle any type firearm.

  • @desirefirst your a noob

  • Looks good!

  • A+

  • Its better to assume its always loaded. If you stop touching the gun for even a second, you better recheck the gun again. It has happened the hard way to people before. Don't get killed or accidentslly kill the wrong person.
