Actually Paul Woodside never missed an extra point in his entire collegiate career.

Mountaineer field by comparison to this, is totally devoid of atmosphere. We need to add more seats and put the students closer to the field.

Man... I was there that night. It was my sophomore year at WVU. Was sitting in the lower (field) student section at the time. When we won, had no choice but to go on the field. It was mayhem. Spent the night in Sunnyside. Was fortunate to get one of the last cases of beer at the Superette!! What memories!!

@sageofsuccess i know why he didnt. I know his daughter and she told me that if he went to the NFL he would not see his wife again so he didnt go

54's block on this play was GREAT! ran past the traffic and got that LB to spring it down the sideline for the TD...

Our local cable company actually showed this game, even though they weren't officially showing ESPN yet. I think it was illegal, but we're not sure. Whatever the case, we got to see the game. I do think it was the first night game at Mountaineer Field.

I was there, too! This was the very first night game at Mountaineer Field (Puskar)if memory serves. They were scrambling to get the lights in place the weeks prior, due to ESPN prime time coverage. I was in the Pride of WV and remember feeling the incredible energy from atop the law school hill. The roar from the crowd as we played pregame was UNREAL, earsplitting, and it carried throughout the game. Thanks for posting this great memory...

I remember Pat Randolph at Ridley High back in the early 80's he was THE MAN. He didnt have a huge college career, but the important thing is HE GOT HIS DEGREE.

-- They never recovered from the injuries and emotional drain of this game. They had to play one-loss Virginia the following week and lost by 3 TDs. White went down in that game and so they lost to Rutgers and tied Temple. But when that team was healthy they were as good as anybody that year.
The only sweeter thang I know would be the sound of my nutz bouncin' off a Pitt fan's chin.

I have always wondered why Pat Randolph never got a shot in the NFL.
