Jonathan,
If You don't want to hold PTT and use another rx as sidetone monitor then the needed sidetone unit name is CW-2S and it's matched to MX series. No way to find them on the market for now but schematics is available. Let me know if You want to get it by email.

Wish those rigs were more available in the USA. I'd love to have one for 2m and 10 meters especially. Thanks for putting this up on UTube. de n5vwn

Hi ! I was in QRPP because this RTX sends with only 200 mW. The result of this call was negative but with same conditions some days later I made a 555 KM QSO on SSB mode.

What are you keying this with? May I see more detail on your sidetone and keying device? A schematic, perhaps?

Hi Jonathan. I don't use external sidetone. The noise you listen is not from Mizuho MX-2 (without sidetone) but from another rig that I use as monitor. Every time I transmit with this rig I need push the Mizuho's latch PTT. The Mizuho sidetone is very hard to find today.

Its name is McMurdo. I found it some years ago in an HAM fair in Italy. Try on eBay, sometime I see it.... 73 de Enrico, IW3FZQ
