@therealjohnnyjohnson yes the pump is under the engine i had my dad look at it (he was at one point a mechanic) and i talked to a few other mechanics and pretty much said that on the 97 4 cycle Pontiac grand am gt you have to lift the engine out to install the water pump and its supposedly a 8 hour job to do so....now im going to check to see if it could be the hose...

are you 100% that its the water pump? And do you know where pump is located. My water pump was sooooo easy on the vehicle in this video i did water pump. If your lucky you can just slip belt off pump and put it to the side then remove hoses from pump. romove bolts on pump and remove pump carefully , remembering every step. new pump is cheap. then install the same way. This job is fairly easy if you have some basic wrenches. I will walk you through it. Let me know if you have the balls to try it?

true, but your not replacing the belt. you only take belt off the pump and leave it around the rest of the pulleys. Then you tie it so it doesnt fall off the rest of pullys. You sound like your making excuses. you want help and im telling you what to do . now listen to me and fix it. the pump is cheap.

hey i have a 97 Pontiac grand am gt 4 cycle and i need to replace the water pump but i hear that is at least $1000 dollar job to do. because you also have to lift the engine and do other stuff, im in college and i wont have that type of money anytime soon.... do you know if there is anything i can do.....permanent or temporary?

@knite2005 It might be a leaky hose. you gota be patient. realy patient. If your not cerebral and patient you have no chance. you can buy a manual for 15$ that tells you how to fix everything. Im not sure if i spelled cerebral correctly. If i didnt then i guess im not very cerebral.

I just screwed away half my Sunday replacing this on my daughter's car! Before seeing your video, I fumbled thru all the steps correctly, but got stumped at the "special serpentine tensioner wrench". I couldn't get the damn belt on! I guess this screw head will need to be renting that wrench tomorrow. What a miserable project! I wish that I would have seen your video before I started, not when I got stumped. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'll take it from here. Thanks again.
