Their most recent work, a book titled NurtureShock, explores cutting edge research that challenges many familiar myths about how to best parent kids.
Praise creates the illusion of meaning. And when someone feels what they do is important they will want to do it. Without meaning it wouldn't be worth the effort. However, it is difficult to learn how to stay inspired without being praised or congratulated. But by being babied as children, we become more insecure and never really learn how to keep the inspiration going. Thank yous become more frequent and less valued. Quantity up, quality down.
