I will say this about all the Dan Auerbach/John Mayer gibberish. Dan Auerbach is head and shoulders a better songwriter, more original, and the general content of his solo album and everything The Black Keys have put out there is more soulful, heartfelt, and generally better and more entertaining than anything John Mayer has ever done. That being said, Dan Auerbach, technically speaking, cannot hang with John Mayer in guitar playing ability. His music sucks, but hes a guitar phenom.

To be fair, there are a lot of people like 2dope2 walking this planet who were born without a soul. They are plastic people and plastic is all they know. Sheep have to be fed and that's why there is fast food and pop music. Instead of being angry you should feel sorry for those who will never get it and only see the surface of things.

Damn, I love Dan Auerbach's music but why the hell do we have to compare Mayer with Auerbach? They're both great songwriters. And of course, you don't have to like Mayer's music, but to say he has no soul is just foolish and ignorant. You can't be a guitar phenomenon without feeling.

I can't understand people even trying to make the argument Mayer is a better player than Auerbach. Mayer unashamedly STEALS all his licks from Hendrix. His licks and his sound. Mayer has 0 originality. Zip. He can write a good pop song, but his guitar playing is equal to some schoolboy who listened to Electric Ladyland one time too many. Auerbach constructed an original sound that - if you feel the absolute need to compare to someone - is much MUCH closer to Jack White than John Mayer.
