Yes, Barbie was a popular nickname for Barbara
back then. I guess the doll ruined the nickname. Calling someone "Barbie" now would
be highly insulting. I like this commerical.

Yes, the announcer did say "Barbie" (a favored variation of "Barbara" among close friends in the mid-'50s); for years, Miller's well-known slogan was "The Champagne Of Bottled Beer" (meaning, it's "high class", but reasonable enough in price to offer to your friends), but most people served it in tall glasses...
