This is what chickens do when it's hot. They pant and hold their wings out and down. Make sure your chickens have access to shade at all times of the day.

  • Thanks for showing this; people don't know that this is perfectly normal for chickens who are too hot. They do survive. The key is fresh clean water, perhaps twice a day. Chickens cannot sweat, so they pant just like you see above. I live in Pineville LA and it's been over 100 for three days in a row. I am praying for rain.

  • mine are 4 weeks old and did that for the first time a couple days ago and i about had a heart atack
