Also, decent video, but it does just sound a little like an extended solo with the odd chord thrown in over the top.

Try writing a song in D major in standard tuning first, then tune down to Dadgad and play it and then you can add your harmonics or guitar slaps or whatever you want.

It's usually a lot easier if you do it this way.
