There are five Jain temples are in poor conditions in Tharparkar district. The remnants of Jain sites are visible only in Nagarparkar taluka where ruins of temples depict the past glory of Jain architecture. Out of the five most famous Jain Temples in our part of the world, there are in Bodhesar and one each in Gori and Virawah.
About six kilometer north-west from Nagar Parkar there are the remains of two ancient Jain Structures supposed to have been built in A.D., 1375 and 1449. Two of them were previously used as stalls for cattle and the third, the interior of which was very beautiful and interesting, had large holes in the back wall and was in a very neglected state.
Gori, some 23 Kms north -west from Virawah, contains a very fine old lain temple measuring 38 meters by 15 and built of marble. It was for several times plundered due to its popularity for abundances in wealth. It is a symbol of unique ancient construction.

Bhalwa village is attributed to a native village of "Marvi" the most cherished and respected daughter of this land, who is symbol of patriotism and chastity, who did not succumb to any pressure or lure. On the contrary she preferred to accept a pure Thari life, full of poverty and problems, instead of becoming a queen. This area is historical known as "Malir", whereas present name Bhalwa becomes popular, when Bheels community settled at this village and name it as Bhalwa.
Bhodesar is situated 02 miles away in the North West of Nagarparkar, beneath the Karoonjhar hills, this town happened to be the prosperous and affluent city of the time, which is eminent from the ancient construction still found there. This place Bhodesar was formally known as Bhodesar Nagri. According to historian, there lived one Queen Bhodi. She had constructed a beautiful pond having metal led base.
According to historians, Sultan Mehmood Begra, constructed a mosque near the pond. It was more than 500 hundreds old mosque which was constructed with marble. The mosque is still in conditions.
According to Thari people there is no clear policy for community welfare in Thar Coal Project and a lack of trust between the community and the donors/investors.
Residents told this scribe that protection of cultural, heritage and religious sites; guarantees of employment for the local people; compensation issues as per current day rates of the lands and other belongings and; change in environmental landscape, impact on water and other livelihood commodities.
