This is just a general rant about the recent trend about remakes in general and why I'm really frustrated with them right now.

  • well friday hte 13th remake the nail thing the asian guy tried to attack jason with it and jason just turned it around it wasnt his choice of weapon to kill him

  • @TheNerfmerc3 I'm not blaming Jason, it's the writers' fault.

  • I love the orignal the hitcher but the remake sucked balls i hate remakes too

  • Rutger Haur really makes that movie amazing.

  • actually there are some pretty damn good remakes, yea there are alot of bad ones but most of the good ones came from PLATINUM DUNES.

    - Friday The 13th

    - Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    - Amityville Horror

    - The Hitcher

I thought My Bloody Valentine and Last house on the left remakes were pretty good too.

  • Platinum Dunes remakes range from mediocre to absolute garbage. Friday the 13th is easily their best film, and I only rated that one a 3/5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was shallow and completely predictable and boring. Amityville Horror was absolutely terrible and The Hitcher is an abomination of cinema.

For GOOD remakes, I would say The Hills Have Eyes, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Funny Games, The Fly, The Thing, Cape Fear, and Scarface. THOSE are good remakes, but sadly, that is a rarity.

  • I think that they shouldn't call Let me in or any remake to a new film a Remake,I could see it as a tribute, but a remake, not at all.And I also don't mind them doing remakes to movies that kinda sucked, but were good at the same time, like Fright night was good, but could've been better, like the Vampire dancing with the girl was drawn out way to long, and some part's were outlandish.Like the vampire beating up the kid in his room, and it takes the mom forever to notice,so the Remake might be better.

  • I think alot of the remakes are good, like Clash of the Titan's,I actually prefer the new one, even though they messed up on Calibos a bit.And the Eye with Jessica alba was pretty cool,it was a tie with the original to me,Let me in wasn't as good, but it show's the film in a little different light, and lighting for that matter. So I liked that. And the Texas chainsaw was good I thought, and I liked the new Last house on the left alot better than the original, the original was kinda lame.

  • Agree with you! Hollywood made also a copy of the Swedish film "Den Osynlige" (The Invisible) and they also do a remake of “Män som hatar kvinnor” (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) From The Millennium Trilogy written by Stieg Larsson, a Swedish Novelist

  • I agree hollywood has gone remake happy these days. I really liked Let The Right One In but i don't necessarily think it's an untouchable piece of cinema as some folks say and that if remade it would totally stink. Now once they start fuckin with movies like Dog Soldiers or High Tension you have my TOTAL support!! lol. Some remakes have been rather good like The Thing & Dawn of the Dead. And even though both took the gore train to ramp them up they were still good remakes. So maybe it'll be ok

  • I feel you with Hollywood and their remake happy ways. Some films just don't need to be remade. As far as Let The Right One In remake..... I'm torn because while the original was good I just didn't fall in love with it the way some folks have where I think it's an untouchable peice of cinema. So I must admit I am slightly interested to see the American interpetation. I do think And you're right they will totally play down the slightly romantic relationship between Eli & Oscar.

  • @nonserviamreviews Although I enjoyed the oririnal "toolbox murders" I think Tobe Hooper did a great job with the remake so I would include that on your list.

You forgot Invasion of the Body Snatchers(78) and although its not out yet I saw an advanced screening of Piranha 3D and I can assure you Alexandre Aja doesn't dissapoint and it surpasses the original easily IMO.

  • My Problem with Friday te 13th is what they did to Pamela, the Kids

that just anoyed the hell out of me, the over use of Weed and Sex

(to me it was a big part a parodie) But Derek Mears as Jason and

3 Death Scenes I really enjoyed and that was really it. But still better then Jason

Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason were they made shit up like Jason has super healing powers or is scared of Water.

I am looking forward to Friday the 13th 2 because Savini is gonna be working on it.

  • The Worst Horror Movies are those that think hey the Original was Psychological

and Scary how about we use alot of Gore Gore Gore and make our Story thats why The Haunting made me Angry or even Black Christmas.

Or they just use the name and don´t give a Damn if its different like

Prom Night and Day of the Dead that I hate.

  • Back then 80s and 90s Re-Makes were made for fun and trying new

Material. Like The Thing, The Fly, The Blob and Night of the Living Dead.

Or at least The Hills Have Eyes, Rob Zombie´s Halloween or Dawn of the

Dead they didnt just make it for making money off the name.

I just hate Plantium Dunes Re-Makes are just made for Money don´t give a

Damn if bad. Sure TCM made Leatherface a Badass again or even Jackie Earl Haley as a different Freddy I loved.
