I sing this famous aria from Tosca. I hope that I have done it justice, and that you enjoy listening to it. I have not yet recorded a video of me singing in front of a camera, because I do not have one, but hopefully that will be coming soon. If any pros out there have any tips for me until I can get vocal/voice lessons I would greatly appreciate them.I invite you, comment Please!!

  • I think you have talent and you are not making justice neither to it neither to the Maestro. First, mind yourself that your voice is rare, and you have to respect it. You are kind of that claimed to be reincarnation of the 19th century soprano sfogato. What it is? - a person whose voice can fulfill sopranos and mezzos. When you do that O mio babbino caro, you perfectly make justice to Lauretta and the Maestro. Here, you have some passages where you do mezzo voice. You have to correct that.

  • Thank you so much for your commentary!!! I am such an amateur and do not have a professional to help me, so I am learning all of this on my own. It helps a lot to get feedback from those who know a lot about opera!

  • Amazing, Brittany. You sound like a pro. Your accent is also impressive! You can only say you're not Italian when you say "Madonna". I am Italian, so I can say. I have a pop background, but sometimes, I try to sing opera (tenor arias, as I'm a man) and I sound awful. You really really really impressed me. Congrats!

  • Thank you for your comment!!! and I am so happy that the Italian is understandable!!! God Bless!

  • at first i thought this wasn't you because of the quality of the recording, but then i got to 1:04.

  • lol what happens at 1:04?

  • i think it's because it's lower, where I am used to hearing your voice.

  • I hope one day I can know a lot about opera. I'm focused in it, at least.

Anyway, the learning passes through comparing unknown voices or potential talents with the Grands.

If you are ashamed of learning canto, just try an ordinary instrument. It will help you a lot about reading and interpretating the scores, furthermore than singigng by hear (but do not discard singing by hear). I play violin, and learning helped me a lot.

  • And respect the score. You've transposed it one semitone. There are 6 b in the first page and 3 in the others.

  • i can really hear Brittany. it's more like your talking voice i think, so i can recognize it more readily.
