Enough with the petty squabbles. The people who are trying to combat terrorism are doing it at this moment, and do it as a matter of duty to their comrades, isaf, afghanistan, and loved ones. The taliban are not stupid and they are still a threat to cosy livingroom-land. The kids who grow up in helmand see daily the horrors of war, but see that isaf forces are helping to achieve a better future. The bravery of our forces is so vital, whether fighting or rebuilding lives at the cost of their own.

I think that if we really care about combatting terrorism on an individual nation-state level, then we need to be more serious about looking at its roots... and not provide these terrorists with daily recruitment propaganda by having our boy's boots kick down families' doors at 3 in the morning.

Its called empathy. Try it, put yourself in the shoes of a 13 year old Afghani/Iraqi boy. Now picture watching your dad get blackbagged and beaten and ask yourself what you'd want to do.
