Certainly the Sanyo is more versatile (more adjustments). For pure image quality give me the Kodak. Before you decide, put both on a tripod, shoot the same thing the same way at the same time and compare. Waving camcorder around is no way to make a fair comparison. I agree that the herky-jerky zoom on the Kodak is a downer. Take a look at my short Zi6 720p video. Steadiness is the answer to getting good video. Any motion is bad. Unfortunately most IS systems can't really cope with much.

As well as my interesting fuji w3 real 3d camera. I've also had a sanyo cg20,but gave it my brother. (My mistake for not getting a backup cg20.) Who would never part with it. Anyhow, that stuttering was probably due to firmware,or slow class sd card. My zi8, 2 yrs.,no problems. Same for the other vidcams. Good vid though.

It was a okay vid test. I used this vid a year ago in my decision to buy both a cg10,and zi8. They are both good hd pocket class units, and still holdout well today. I had given these media recorders to my brother, but recently asked to borrow them. So, I would have something more compact to E.D.C. with
me for those sudden events that sometimes occurs.
I usually carried a sony hd cx110,which is the best subcompact HD cam, but a little heavy, and slightly bulky

I have 2 sanyo's, I've had really good luck with them. Granted there are a few things that I would have changed on the design (usb charging for one),but all in all they're a great camera.

I took Zi8 from a friend to do some testings and the video was VERY jumpy and the interface felt to me very basic. Then I found Sanyo CG20 and I decided to buy it after watching some videos here in Youtube. I found it in same price as Zi8. Zi8 picture quality is better in my opinion, but for me there is no doubt that CG20 is much better! I really love this camera.

That was an very interesting comparison! Before I leaned towards the Kodak, but now I guess I get the Sanyo!

I've had the sanyo and must say it was crapp it was blurry and can only do 720p so ive taken it back. the kodak is well better, reliable, easier in my opinion.
Dont know why youre shooting here with the IS and other features off though.

sanyo is way better. Smoother and not as jumpy

how much is it and what about the mega pixels ?

Good comparo, I like the Sanyo; but it produces consistently overly soft video, which is somewhat improved by enabling manual settings but not resolved. The Kodak is clearly crisper but quality issues from past experience preempt me from purchasing one. Though simplistic, devoid of features and one dimensional, the Flip UltraHD has a good lens and decent video; with great audio to boot. Reliability though is questionable.
Overall, I guess the Sanyo has the edge given its rock solid reliability.

The Zi8 is actually a better camera. This video was shot with the old firmware. The new firmware makes the zoom smooth and improves the picture quality and sound. I've seen them all. BTW, the Zi8 works best at 720p/60fps.
to me the sanyo looks way better, smooth when turning or moving with it. the other two are really jumpy also I cant stand that mic noise in a little wind with the zi8. I found a review online for the sanyo with all the best settings.. or the settings that he found to be the best, let me know if you want them

I tend to agree and am leaning towards the Sanyo. I should mention that both may seem a bit "jumpy" since I was recording with one hand and had a leash in the other. I have another video my wife shot while I was playing frisbee with our dog that was a lot better and was not "jumpy".
I definitely would like the settings. I'm still getting to know what they all mean and how each affects the picture/video.
