Too few psychiatrists speak out against biological psychiatry and the harmful effects of ECT

The DSM4 should be thrown away along with psychiatry. How can anyone believe that electroshocking the brain is not harmful?

Have you had involuntary ECT? Do you know what it's like to forget your wedding day and where things are in your house? Do you know what it's like to feel like your brain has been violated? I had involuntary ECT after years of depression caused by being sodomised when I was less than 6 years old (thats when it was discovered and verified by the rape treatment center) First my body was violated and then I was strapped down and they violated my mind.

Well I certainly don't agree with what happened to you, and I can understand you must be very upset. My Grandfather was given similar unethical treatment- and the ETC did not seem to help. I do not agree with INVOLUNTARY ECT. Or anything INVOLUNTARY, unless a person is harming others.

However, I feel if one is depressed and they personally feel ECT may help them, they do have the right to undergo what has shown to be a very effective treatment for many (obviously not all)

Psychiatrists will often deny the brain damage associated with ECT. The whole DSM 4 book needs a complete overhaul.
