*lightbulb goes off* So he goes around asking dozens of people to perform this trick where most people guess random stuff, but the one person who guesses it's a stone and they use that. The whole trance thing is so that IF they guess it's a stone, you will think it's because they're in a trance and not because it's a random guess. That's why he's rich and famous and I'm...well...not. I never woulda thought of that.

hhmm I don't know why I jokingly criticized that, it could make sense, but doesnt' seem like people would get all philosophical psyche-mode about black and fear in a few minutes and get paralyzed by it by a little pebble.

Yeah it was blessed by a forest full of nomes and guarded by sacred unicorn mares for about 12,000 years.
