Less yappin', more slidin' than other vid, but still: Sledding/explanation offered thereof, on Stokes Hill, where Samuel Allen tested/perfected his designs for the Flexible Flyer® sled, patented in 1889. Founder of S. L. Allen & Company of Philadelphia, Allen made a fortune in farm equipment manufacture; he lived in a mansion across the st. from Stokes Hill. Flexible Flyer model used is the Airline Chief, identifiably of 1936-49 vintage. This from v. late December, 2010, some days after 1st major snow of winter.

  • We never got enough snow in Chicago this year to bring out my FF so sad

  • when people cared about quality

  • This is so funny. I saw some of your cat videos and saw this one. I have my childhood Flexible Flyer in my basement. This inspires me to take her out for a spin when we get some snow in Chicago! I love your narration. Funny guy!
