Although not written expressly for Broadway, this song was made part of the 1931 score to "Everybody's Welcome," in which it was sung by Frances Williams to a room full of BYT (Bright Young Things). A decade later it would achieve more status and longevity by its inclusion in the Warners feature 'Casablanca,' in which Eilliot Carpenter played piano for Dooley Wilson, who sang the song at Rick's American Café for the likes of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. The script to the 1931 play is courtesy the Shubert Archive, New York City.
You play this classic with class.
Thanks.
